Recent filings show compensation for Siebel Newsom and her company. Documents covering the period ending in March 2024 list a salary of $150,000.

Additionally, another $150,000 went to her company, Girls Club LLC. The payments were described as writer, director, and producer fees.

Documentary Rights Linked to Payments

The filings also explain the relationship between the nonprofit and Girls Club LLC. The company owns the copyright to the documentary Miss Representation.

The nonprofit has licensed the film for at least seven years. This agreement allows distribution and public performance rights.

Critics Raise Concerns Over Compensation

Some watchdog groups criticized the level of compensation. They argued the Jennifer Siebel Newsom nonprofit payments appear high for an organization of its size.

Meanwhile, CFO Debra Garber earned $131,942. Total compensation costs for the year ending March 2024 were just under $1 million.

Disclosure Rules and State Regulations

California Governor Gavin Newsom must report spousal income on annual ethics disclosures. However, reports show the income was listed within broad ranges.

Communications director Izzy Gardon said the disclosures follow California law. She added that the governor must report only half of spousal income.
